Holy Trinity Cathedral is the biggest cathedral in Georgia with its size. The height of the cathedral from the lowest point to the top of the roof is 100 meters. The cathedral opened in 2004 on November 23 at the celebration of St. George’s Day. The whole monastery complex consists of the Bell Tower, Baptistery, the main Holy trinity Cathedral and eleven small churches. St. John the Baptist Church is situated along the left wall of the main chancel of the cathedral. The painting of it started in September of 2005 and ended in March of 2010.

The church was painted under the leadership of Lasha Kintsurashvili with the help of iconographers Giorgi Egnatashvili, Irakli Medoshvil, Temur Demetrashvili, Revaz Mujiri, Levan Davitiani, Irakli Parjanadze and Nikoloz Cercvadze.
